Chocolate Caramel Slice

Easy and delicious.  And it looks pretty….. we like pretty!

150g Butter

1-2 TB Golden Syrup

1/2 cup Soft Brown Sugar

Melt all of the above in a large saucepan.  Stir in the following.

1 cup Plain Flour sifted with 1 ts Baking Powder

1 cup Rolled Oats (I used the quick ones)

Press into a lined 20cm square tin and bake at 180 for around 15-20 mins till golden

Meanwhile…

1 Tin Caramel Condensed Milk stuff

Melt in the microwave – if it is a little lumpy add a TB butter and keep whisking.  Watch out, it is hot.

Smear on the base.

1/2 block (or more if you fancy) of Whittakers Dark Chocolate

Melt slowly on low in the microwave, continually stiring.  Don’t burn it, it catches quickly.  Add a TB of butter and whisk in to the hot chocolate.  It should get pretty and shiny.

Dollop TBs of chocolate onto the caramel.  Take a skewer/fork/knife and create swirls in the chocolate/caramel.

It will still be hot, so leave to cool for about an hour and pop in the fridge to set.  Will be set in about 2 hours.

EAT! And enjoy!

Not an every day food……
